Trip Report: Day 9 Bangkok

The hotel buffet breakfast was good. There were quite a variety of food and they were not bad taste-wise. Actually the breakfasts were not supposed to be included but the hotel still gave us the vouchers anyway. The buffet was a nice difference from the baguettes that we were having in Vietnam and Cambodia.

It was pouring and we couldn't leave the hotel until 10+. Our first stop was Pratunam Market which was basically the garment wholesale centre for Thailand. To my surprise, I managed to bump into my JC classmate Heng Soon who was vacationing with another of my two friends from school. It's weird that I never bump into them in Singapore but was able to run into them overseas. It's a small world after all.

The entire day was more or less spent shopping for gifts for friends as well as getting foodstuff to bring back. We started at the Pratunam area and finished our shopping at the famous MBK. In between we had A&W root beer with ice-cream and curly fries, something that aren't available in Singapore.

Met up the girls for dinner at one of the famous seafood restaurant in Bangkok: Somboon Seafood. The food was not too bad and not really expensive too. Then the six of us managed to squeeze into a cab to Khao San Rd which is the backpackers' area of Bangkok.

The area seemed a little bit complicated; many foreign tourists were drinking on the street. A truly hippie scene. We had a walk down the road which was closed to traffic and the girls did what they do best again. After that we chill-laxed at bar until about midnight. HT's friend Winnie suddenly had the urge to get her hair braided and we saw her getting it done. It was quite funny seeing KW trying to l-g her.

Only got back to the hotel at two plus. It was the last night of the trip already. I was already looking forward to sleep in my own bed the next night.
