I miss the month of December

No post was written in the month of December as I was away in India; the first three weeks were spent doing OCIP in the idyllic place of Yuksam in western Sikkim and the final week was split between the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur as well as the Sikh holy city of Amritsar.

I think that I've grown as a person after this trip; I was really inspired by the passion of KCC members in their continual efforts to improve their community. At the same time, I was made aware of my own flaws during the travels; being too quick in making judgement is one trait which I can still improve on.

Quite glad that I joined the OCIP; wouldn't have seen so much and experienced so much without going through it. Although there were hiccups, I guess that the entire experience was worth all the efforts put in.

First

Today was the first time that I was pissed off with other members of my OCIP team over work.

If I were frustrated before, I would say that it was mainly down to either my own helplessness or the unpredictability of situations.

It really took something for me to be upset with people; maintaining personal relations is very important for me and I am always generous in accepting excuses for people whom I don't know well.

Unable to turn up for meetings? Perhaps you have some personal matters.

Unable to complete the work? Perhaps there are other important stuff to be done.

Need to leave early to study? No problem at all... studies are more important.

The lack of urgency was the breaking point; everyone else simply just sat around and expected that all the things would be done by themselves.

I realized that very often the work are done only by people who care enough. In many occasions the less committed were able to get away because someone else would be willing to step in to salvage the situations.

I wouldn't complain if I had done more work than others; work can never be distributed in an equitable manner and I was willing to do a little more for the completion of the project.

All I desire was more commitment, accountability and responsibility from everyone.

I've tried hard to hide my unhappiness just now but I guess that it wasn't too hard to detect.

Perhaps I shouldn't care so much anymore.

Fuck.

Where did I go??

My laziness is the reason for such a long absence.

Although I'm doing only 5 modules (relative to the 5.5 which I did in each of the past two semesters), I have less free time. That is primarily down to the fact that I have been consistently doing most of my readings and I am involved in an YEP to India in December.

Only 10 weeks more till the India trip and now the team is still at the preparation stage. Being in the sponsorship team means that I have to do call up potential sponsors and send them the proposal. I will say that the team is quite lucky so far; there are high chances that we will be able to land some potentially awesome sponsorship deals. Not wanting to jinx the outcomes, I will only disclose when they are finalized.

In two weeks' time F1 will come to Singapore. I'm getting quite excited being the flag marshall for the event although it means that I have to miss the Merseyside derby. The three mid-terms (1 on the immediate monday after the race) also worry me. I don't know how will I prepare for them while spending the weekends on the track.

Last but not least, we finally beat the fucking scums! I'm absolutely delighted... maybe the only thing which can top this feeling is beating them at Old Trafford? LOL
